Regaining Health at Pritikin

Hello: Maybe yesterday doesn't count as I flew in at 1pm or so and after lunch just conked out for a few hours but so far it's going good. Last night I attended a great lecture on reducing stress that highly recommended meditation - something I've gotten away from over the last few years.

The food takes a bit to get used to but there are fruit baskets everywhere here. Lots of chopped or tossed salads which tend to become the basis of every meal. For breakfast I had an egg beaters omelet loaded with potatoes, onion, asparagus, tomato and peppers. It was delicious. Then a bountiful bowl of colorful fresh berries.

Last night we had a cooked fish sushi, spinach quiche, ravioli with roasted vegetables, veggie burgers and other choices for dinner entrees. This is a slightly expanded menu for the first week that helps one adjust to the Pritikin diet a little slower. I personally am enjoying all the fruit and vegetables but only miss things like cream and butter.

A few of us did a short walk nearby, I took a yoga class, lifted a few weights and before long it will be lunch time.

Many guests are here for months as they get serious health and or weight problems under control and quite a number return time and again for "tuneups". The Pritikin staff is seeing more families and have several programs designed for long adults, teenagers and younger.

Next addition tomorrow.

Regaining and Sustaining Health

Hello:

Just to let you know I'm off to the Pritikin Longevity Center and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for a week's renewal and tune-up. Time to get back on the track of healthy eating and regular exercise.

I'll be posting daily reports starting Wednesday, August 26, 2009.
